Product Database & Locality

Kitchen Companion is designed for use with items found in U.S.-based grocery and convenience stores. The product includes access to our Internet-enabled grocery database, which allows the program to automatically fill in details on the items that you scan in your home. The database contains slightly more than 300,000 items (for comparison, the average U.S. grocery store stocks about 35,000 unique SKUs).

If you scan an item Kitchen Companion can't find, you'll be guided to add it manually. You can optionally upload your new record to the master database for the benefit of others. You'll only have to tell Kitchen Companion about the item once -- in the future, it'll know about that item as something that you purchase.

Kitchen Companion can be used outside the United States to track groceries, nutrition, and recipes, but will be unable to automatically fill in details on the items that you scan.

Barcode Scanning Capabilities

The included IntelliScanner barcode reader scans both standard retail barcodes worldwide and IntelliScanner Asset Tags (Code 39).

IntelliScanner Collector (corded) and IntelliScanner mini (portable) models are designed for home use, and are built to work with IntelliScanner's organization software. The two home models do not work with third-party applications.
