IntelliScanner mini advanced troubleshooting

First, unplug your scanner from the USB cable and unplug the Keyspan USB adapter from your computer. If you are using Windows, uninstall the Keyspan software using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

Next, launch the IntelliScanner Dashboard and select Setup New IntelliScanner from the Tools menu.

Finally, the built-in IntelliScanner Setup Assistant is designed to automatically recognize and correct common problems with your scanner, drivers and other software. Follow the on-screen steps to reconfigure your IntelliScanner. Please be sure to follow each step carefully. The Assistant will reconfigure your scanner and software installation to automatically resolve any issues you may be having.

If you are having trouble transferring data, double check the Keyspan adapter. If the green LED is flashing on the Keyspan adapter, it means your computer isn't communicating with it.

To test your computer's ability to communicate with the scanner, make sure the Keyspan adapter and your scanner are plugged in, then click on the small barcode icon next to the clock on your computer. From the IntelliScanner Portable Driver, click on the "Troubleshooting" button -- in the next window, click on the "Configure" button -- leave the Scanner Port set to the default and click "OK" -- this will test the connection. When the test is complete, you can close the "IntelliScanner Portable Driver" window -- don't click on the "Quit" button.

To additionally test the connection to the scanner, open an application such as Notepad or TextEdit -- with the scanner plugged in, scan a barcode. The number should be typed into Notepad or TextEdit.

Frequently Asked Questions:

My mini doesn't beep when I try to scan a barcode.

When IntelliScanner mini successfully reads a barcode, it should play a tone and the flashing green LED on the scanner should turn solid green. For the best results, hold IntelliScanner mini about 2-4 inches away from the barcode and at a slight angle. If you experience difficulty, try varying the distance and angle.

Double check that the successful scan tone hasn't been toggled off. You can toggle the successful scan tone (beep) for the mini by holding down the large scan button (+) for 10 seconds. The LED will turn orange to indicate that the successful scan tone has been toggled off. To toggle the successful scan tone back on, hold the large scan button (+) down for 10 seconds -- the LED will turn orange and the scanner will beep to indicate that the scan tone has been turned back on.

How do I turn ON/OFF the successful scan tone on my mini?

You can toggle the successful scan tone (beep) for the mini by holding down the large scan button (+) for 10 seconds. The LED will turn orange to indicate that the successful scan tone has been toggled off. To toggle the successful scan tone back on, hold the large scan button (+) down for 10 seconds -- the LED will turn orange and the scanner will beep to indicate that the scan tone has been turned back on.

The LED on my mini is yellow or red -- what do the colors mean?

When the scan (+) button is pressed on the mini, the LED should flash green. If the scan (+) button is held down long enough (5-8 seconds), the LED will turn yellow. If the button is held down for 10+ seconds, this will toggle the successful scan tone off.

To toggle the successful scan tone back on, hold the large scan button (+) down for 10 seconds -- the LED will turn yellow and the scanner will beep to indicate that the scan tone has been turned back on.

If the mini's LED is red, it indicates the batteries are getting weak. Remove the battery cover screw on the bottom side of the mini and install 4 new batteries (Maxell LR44; Energizer 357). Be careful not to strip the battery cover screw when replacing the battery cover.

What does the small "-" button on my mini do?

The "-" button is used to delete a barcode number you've scanned -- for instance, if you make a mistake and scan an item twice, or scan the wrong item, etc.

Press the "-" button then scan the barcode you want to delete. Holding the "-" button down until the scanner beeps, clears all the numbers in memory.

When I plug in my mini, it beeps continuously.

If your mini beeps continuously when you connect it to transfer data, it may indicate a problem with one of the cables. Please contact Technical Support here.
